Windows Application Interface




Refer to page 1 in the text.

• The file name and type of document are displayed in the title bar. In Microsoft Word, the name Document1 is used temporarily until the document is saved with a descriptive name. Drag the title bar to move a window.

• Select commands from menus in the menu bar.

• Click a button on the toolbar to perform an action.

• The vertical line is the insertion point that indicates where the next character typed will be placed.

• View information about the document in the status bar.

• Open applications and files are indicated on the task bar.

• Drag the resize tab to size the window.

• Links based on the current user selection are displayed in the task pane.

• Drag the scroll bar to bring unseen parts of the document into view.

• Click the Close button to close the window.

• Click the Maximize button to expand the window to fill the screen.

• Click the Restore button to restore the window to its previous size. The Restore button is displayed instead of the Maximize button when a window has been maximized.

• Click the Minimize button to reduce the application window to a button on the taskbar.
